Who we are
Unlit is made by Tinwren (“Tinwren”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@tinwren.com. This policy covers the Unlit app for iPhone.
What we collect
Nothing. Unlit has no accounts, ads, analytics, tracking or crash reporting, and the app sends us no data of any kind. Apple may share anonymous crash reports and statistics with us if you allow it; see Data Apple may share with us.
What stays on your iPhone
To remember your game, Unlit saves the following in its private storage on your iPhone:
- Progress: the last day you solved, your moves and that day’s par, your current and best streak, and how many puzzles you’ve solved.
- Solve history: your moves and that day’s par for each day you’ve solved (up to about ten years), which the Stats screen uses.
- Settings: appearance (System, Light or Dark), vibration on or off, and whether the daily reminder is on.
- A few markers so the app doesn’t repeat itself: whether you’ve finished or skipped the tutorial, seen How to play and answered the reminder offer, and when the app last showed Apple’s rating prompt.
- A recovery copy: if the app ever finds your saved progress damaged, it keeps a copy so your streak can still be recovered.
Practice boards aren’t saved. We can’t see any of this. To delete it, use Settings › Data › Erase all data… (which also cancels any scheduled reminder), or delete the app. Because there are no accounts, we can’t restore it for you.
Notifications
The daily reminder is off until you turn it on. If you do, Unlit asks for permission to show notifications, then schedules one local notification at 7 PM your time on days you haven’t played. Your iPhone schedules and shows it. There’s no push server and no push token, and nothing is sent to us. Turn it off in Settings › Reminders in the app, or in your iPhone’s Settings.
Ratings
After you’ve solved a few puzzles, Unlit may show Apple’s standard rating prompt, at most once every 120 days. Apple runs that prompt, and any rating or review you leave is handled by Apple under its terms.
Data Apple may share with us
If you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone’s settings (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us crash reports and statistics about how Unlit is used, such as how often it’s opened. Apple also gives app makers App Store figures, such as how many times an app was downloaded.
Apple collects this data, not Unlit, handles it under Apple’s own privacy policy, and gives it to us in a form that doesn’t identify you. We use it only to fix problems and improve the game. You can turn sharing off in that setting at any time.
Internet access
You don’t need an internet connection to play. The privacy policy and support links open in your browser, and “Rate on the App Store” opens the App Store.
In-app purchases
This version of Unlit has no in-app purchases.
Our website
The Unlit web pages, including this one, use no cookies, analytics or tracking of our own. The playable board on the Unlit page is a small script that runs in your browser; it stores nothing and sends nothing anywhere. How the website is hosted is described in the Tinwren Privacy Policy.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to help you. We don’t add you to a mailing list. We keep your messages only as long as we need them to help you, then delete them, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Children’s privacy
Unlit is a general-audience game. It doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have rights over your personal information, such as to access, correct or delete it, or to object to how it’s used.
Unlit doesn’t collect personal information, so we hold nothing about you from the app. To remove what Unlit stores on your iPhone, use Erase all data or delete the app. If you’ve emailed us, you can ask for a copy of that correspondence or ask us to delete it. We don’t sell or share personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a future version of Unlit ever collects data, we’ll update this policy before that version is released.
